Adult Foster Children
I know how terrifying it can be to face the world without a safety net. That’s why I’ve put together a list of resources I’ve come across—I hope it gives you a starting point.
Remember: You are valuable. Your voice matters more than you know. Your past is just one part of your journey, and none of it is your fault.
If you know of any resources I haven’t included, please reach out—I’d love to add them!
Comfort Cases’ Hope Scholarship is for young people who’ve spent at least four years in the foster care system and want to go to college or trade school. If you're a graduating high school senior or already in college and enrolling in a U.S. program this fall, you can apply. They’re looking for leadership, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose—plus, they understand the challenges of financial and emotional support. On top of the scholarship, winners get monthly Hope Boxes with essentials, treats, and a gift card to help them along the way.
Foster Care to Success (FC2S) helps young people from foster care go to college, trade school, or career programs. If you’ve been in foster care and are enrolling in an accredited program, you can apply. They offer two main types of support: community-funded sponsored scholarships to help with tuition and living expenses, and Education and Training Vouchers (ETV), which provide up to $5,000 per year in certain states. On top of that, FC2S gives mentoring, academic coaching, care packages, and internships to help you succeed.
The Dondiego Youth Scholarship Fund, offered by the National Foster Parent Association (NFPA), helps youth from foster care, kinship care, or adoption pay for college or trade school. To apply, you must be the foster, adopted, or biological child of currently licensed foster parents who are members of the NFPA, and between the ages of 17 and 21. Scholarships are competitive, with $500 awarded each year, based on available funds. They also give a $500 Gordon Evans Scholarship to the highest scorer among applicants. The application process starts in mid-January, with a deadline of April 1st.
